Yesterday, on March 11, 2015, a meeting of the Vice-Governor, the Finance Minister of Kuban Ivan Peronko with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Russia Ümit Erdim was held.
The meeting was held within the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Turkey in the Krasnodar region, during which prospects of the bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Today, Turkey is a major foreign trade partner of the Krasnodar region. The share of Turkish products in total exports and imports of the region in 2014 exceeded 15% and amounted to 2.4 billion USD.
There are about 50 enterprises with Turkish capital in different spheres of activity: production of industrial and agricultural products, export and import of food products, transportation, construction and tourism – in the Krasnodar region.
The regional authorities come forward with an initiative to sign a framework agreement between the Administration of the Krasnodar region and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.
"I’m absolutely positive that today’s meeting will give a new impulse to the development of our strong relationship with Turkey and growth of mutual trade turnover, – Ivan Peronko said. – We are ready to rapidly develop cooperation in various sectors of the economy. Today, rice growing is being actively developed and assembly production of special agricultural technology is popular in the region. We are also interested in cooperation in the sphere of seed production. There are new prospects for the development of the glass industry due to the growth of housing construction in the region. The woodworking industry and furniture production can be a scope of mutual cooperation as well".
Mr. Ümit Erdim expressed his confidence that the initiatives of the Krasnodar region will contribute to the search for new points of contact, the development of mutually beneficial business relations and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Turkey. The Ambassador also made a number of proposals for the development of economic cooperation including the participation of Turkish builders in the preparation of hotels and stadiums for the 2018 World Football Championship and construction of logistics centers in Krasnodar and Taman.
During the visit, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in the Russian Federation also met with the rector of the Kuban State University Mikhail Astapov. The parties discussed prospects of cooperation between the Kuban State University with universities of Turkey in the sphere of environmental safety and diagnostics of nano-materials properties. In addition, the delegation of the Republic of Turkey held meetings with representatives of the Turkish diaspora in Krasnodar.
